1. Your first little hello

Connect. Enter your name and invite your person.
Canvas. Create something, review it, then confirm Send.
Frame. See what they sent and save a picture to Photos.

Tsukimi is designed for iPhone and iPad. Drawing locally does not need a connection. CloudKit sharing uses the iCloud account already signed in on your device and does not require a separate Tsukimi login.

The app is not publicly released yet. The steps below describe the current development build; some details may change before release.

2. Pairing and invitations

How do I connect with my person?

Open Connect, enter your display name, choose Invite your person, then Share invitation. On iOS 18 or later, share the single-use link privately using the system share sheet. Only the first account that accepts it can join. On iOS 17, provide their iCloud email so Apple can address a private invitation to that account. They open the link, enter their name and accept.

Do both of us have to be online at once?

No. You can send the invitation now and they can accept it later. You do not have to leave the app open. The invitation must still be active, and accepting or syncing needs internet and an available iCloud account.

Can I connect with more than one person?

No. Tsukimi is just for two. Disconnect or cancel your current invitation before pairing with someone else. Older multi-person test connections are not expanded or silently converted.

How do I cancel a pairing?

Open Connect or Settings and choose Disconnect, then confirm. The owner ends sharing; the invited person leaves the share. Local drawings and images already saved to Photos stay. Keep the app online until the action succeeds. If there is an error, retry before starting another pairing.

What if I sent the invitation to the wrong person?

Cancel the invitation in Connect before it is accepted. If someone has already joined, disconnect the pairing, then create a new invitation. Do not post the link publicly. Once an image has been saved by another person, it cannot be recalled.

3. Creating and sending

Use Canvas to draw, write or import a photo. Drawings opens your saved local work. Frame determines the canvas shape and lets you preview how the picture fits a widget. Photo positioning and optional ink controls are part of the editor; received pictures are not editable drawings.

Tap Send to see a preview, then confirm Send to your person. Your creative process is not broadcast. To keep a received picture, open it in Frame and save it to Photos, granting add-only permission if prompted.

The New marker means this device has not opened that received drawing yet. It is not a notification that the sender can see and not a read receipt.

4. Keeping their picture on your Home Screen

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, enter the system editing controls, open the widget gallery and search for Tsukimi. Choose a size and add the widget. System labels vary by iOS or iPadOS version. The app cannot add a widget automatically.

Widgets keep the full picture visible with space around it when proportions differ. Choose Frame while creating to preview a size. The picture is not guaranteed to update immediately: Apple controls refresh timing and background delivery. Open Tsukimi or refresh Frame if you want to check for a new picture.

Remember that a personal note on the Home Screen can be seen by anyone looking at the device. Remove the widget or use a different Home Screen when you need privacy.

5. If something isn't working

Development checks still in progress: Existing-drawing ink rendering, pen-mode pinch alignment and live two-account CloudKit delivery need further verification. Do not rely on a test build for important messages. Export important drawings before troubleshooting; do not start by deleting the app.

The canvas is blank or ink looks incomplete.

Do not delete the drawing. Open Drawings and check its thumbnail, then try reopening it. Preserve an exported copy if available and contact support with the steps, device model, system version and app build. Rendering is a known area under development.

An invitation won't open or accept.

Check that Tsukimi is installed, iCloud is available and both devices have internet. A canceled or already claimed invitation cannot be used by a new person. Cancel any existing connection before accepting a different one. Ask the sender to create a new invitation if necessary.

A picture hasn't arrived.

Check Connect on both devices, internet access and available iCloud storage. Refresh Frame. Sending needs its final confirmation; creating or saving a local drawing does not send it. Widget timing alone is not proof that a send failed, so avoid repeatedly sending the same picture while checking.

The app asks for local network access.

An older test connection may still use a local service rather than CloudKit. In Settings, disconnect that test connection before selecting Use iCloud sharing. Normal CloudKit sharing does not require you to run a local server.

6. Contact support

Tell us which screen you were on, what you expected and what happened. Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version and app version/build when possible. A screenshot is optional. Do not send Apple Account passwords, invitation links or personal artwork unless needed and you choose to share it.
